It's about you

The world has fallen into pieces…

At the age of 16, I experienced cloudless happiness… but also hell in an instant.

My heart was broken. I was dissapointed.

I wanted to let him know what he did. I started writing…

‘It might not be you that I miss so much but the person I was by your side.’

Story of the book

My story...

Who do you recommend the book to?

For everyone. I think there is less and less talk about our feelings in the rushed world these days. I want to show everyone that showing our feelings is not a sign of weakness at all. That's what my book is about.

What happened to the boy?

It all happened very quickly, it was kind of overwhelming love. The relationship was very hectic, we were never bored and it ended like a bolt from the blue. In the end, we dragged on for a long time, neither with you nor without you, but in the end I said it was over.

What drove you to start writing?

At first, I wrote only out of frustration, so I relieved the pain I couldn’t really express myself or anyone else. I usually wrote in the evenings, then I felt really alone. The length of the book is as much as it was practically written in the release phase, which was a longer process. Writing wasn’t always easy, I rewrote many poems many times before I could tell this version would be final. I also wrote letters as well, which also gave me a lot of inspiration for writing the book of poetry. Of course the letters were also for the boy, I also sent some to him…

Is this your first and last book?

I keep writing, but not necessarily for publication. In fact, this book of poetry was not made for that either. Writing helps me calm down, let go of my good and bad feelings. I mostly write letters anyway, but these are very personal, almost no one can see them. The poems are short, to the point, usually about current feelings be it anger, sorrow or just joy.

What advice would you give to someone who is in exactly the same situation as you anno?

Don't look at him/her on social media, don't search or talk to him/her - it's probably the hardest, but it's the best in the long run. Shut it as soon as possible, but not out of anger - draw conclusions, talk about yourself and build from it. You may be looking completely different at your next relationship.

About the author...

Who am I?

My name is Jazmin Fazekas. I am a purposeful 17-year-old girl, a student of the Jurisich Miklós High School in Kőszeg. In Mosonmagyaróvár - next to the Austrian border - I live with my parents and brother. If I had to describe myself in a few words, I am reminded of the outgoing, kind and friendly adjectives. I always like to be in the focuse, I demand all forms of social contact, but sometimes I also like to be alone.

I am already trying to live purposefully, so I will do my best to win an admission to a reputable foreign university. I speak English and German. My father’s entrepreneurial vein has also appeared in me, so I want to build a well-functioning business or take the family business abroad in the future. Switzerland and Italy are closest to my heart, the Italian mentality is very close to me.

I’m unable to give up on something which has never been mine.’
